The TradeSailer Project was initiated by Catran Naval Architects in 2023 to provide a standardized design by participation of interested parties. The Pacific was identified as the area with the biggest need due to the negative effect of global warming on these Island communities and the isolation of the island groups. Coupled with a high local fuel price having a self sustaining cargo vessel driven by wind made here the most sense.
The first Design, the TradeSailer 300 was developed during a number of online sessions posted on YouTube.
After a little pause Clean Voyages run by Brad Ives, former Captain of the KWAI and President of Island Ventures Limited, was contacted and a collaboration between Catran Naval Architects and Clean Voyages resulted in two design’s. The TSP350 and the TSP450.
